Youth Apprenticeships
Whether they are with us for the summer or for the entire school year, our Youth Apprentices build critical workplace skills and develop post secondary plans to achieve economic mobility.
As young people gain these skills, they also gain confidence in their ability to lead. Many become peer mentors, educators, and organizers. We cultivate civic engagement and advocacy—training youth to fight for safer streets, transportation equity, and environmental sustainability.
As a Youth Apprentice, you will:
Engage in Career Development
Throughout your employment, you will attend career exploration and development workshops, with an emphasis on:
- Financial Empowerment: budgeting, saving, avoiding financial pitfalls, and other financial empowerment areas.
- Professional Development: executive functions, career exploration, healthy relationships

Support Bikes Not Bombs’ Transportation Equity Initiatives
To advance our mission, BNB leads campaigns and programs to advance transportation equity locally and globally. Examples of your work will include:
- Learning and teaching basic bike mechanics
- Supporting free bike repair events
- Learning and teaching safe bike riding skills
- Supporting community-based group bike rides
- Collecting and inventorying donated bikes
- Preparing shipments of bikes and parts to our partners in the Global South
- Refurbishing bikes to give to people who need them the most
- Campaigning for safer streets
- Surveying and hosting listening sessions for communities to assess transportation needs

Applications for our Summer 2025 cohort of Youth Apprentices are now closed. Applications for the school year will open later in the summer.
